MY TESTIMONY:
Over the course of my life, I've survived three separate events that easily could have ended my life:
• A violent attack at a truck stop where I was nearly killed.
• A broken C-2 vertebra in my neck that went undiagnosed while I continued playing football.
• A ruptured appendix that led to gangrene, peritonitis and sepsis after spending days in the hospital without treatment.
Looking back, I believe God was trying to get my attention through those experiences. Instead of turning toward Him, I spent many years pursuing career success, promotions, and executive leadership positions in corporate America. In March 2024, I was terminated from my position as a packaging company Vice President. Rather than immediately chasing another executive role, I spent a month praying, reading Scripture, and asking God what He wanted me to do next.
That decision changed my life.
Since then, I've helped launch two startup companies. One of them, Proverb Packaging Solutions, is preparing to open a new manufacturing facility in Indiana. Another, Corrugated Paper Corporation, is beginning commercial shipments of specialty corrugated paper for the E-Commerce market. My family and I have spend over two years without a paycheck, but we never lost faith that God had a plan.
Today, I see those difficult experiences very differently. What once felt like setbacks have become opportunities to serve others.
The purpose of the 100 - Ton Challenge is not simply to lift weight. The event is designed to encourage people to sponsor children through Compassion International and to use their strength, influence, and resources to help children escape poverty while connecting them to Jesus Christ.
Last year, I traveled to Peru through Compassion International and met children and families whose lives had been transformed through sponsorship. The difference between children connected to Compassion's church-based programs and those growing up without that support was profound. That experience reinforced my commitment to helping more children gain access to education, faith, hope, and opportunity.
"Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me" -Matthew 18:5
We challenge you to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. Our goal is collective: together, we will lift children out of poverty and connect them with God. Every rep, every set, and every pound is a commitment to Compassion International’s vital work, turning physical effort into life-changing sponsorship opportunities for children facing extreme poverty.
